  the travelling salesgirl

This has been one of the most action-packed holidays -- I've only been home a grand total of six days! Spent the first week at a seminar, the next at OBS and the last two in the UK. So you see, I've really had not much time to blog. I looked at my way misplaced enthusiasm for OBS in the previous blog and shuddered.

Despite the full schedule, the holidays were hardly memorable ... I would've preferred spending more time here with friends and the like. Now I feel incredibly out of touch and even my bed feels alien. I've been in and out so many different beds, I've not had decent rest all month.

The UK was generally a big pasture with the obligatory herds of cows and sheep lazing about the vast expanse of never-ending green, and the pretty tableau came complete with dirty primitive stone buildings sprouting up hither thither. London was alright, but my favorite place was probably Chester, a small village complete with authentic little houses, quaint cafes, and very pretty shops.

It's funny how the English are so well-versed in thrift; they seemingly never fail to recycle buildings from their glorious past. You'd walk into a grand Georgian-style building with a lovely facade, expecting the inside to be equally authentic and thanking God for at least making the awful 13-hour flight worthwhile, and what you get are neon lights and modern furniture so tacky they make even the Esplanade look elegant.

All I can say is I'm so glad to be home, home at last! Sleeping in the same bed and not having to freeze my toes off. First week of school's over, and I am preparing to be swept off my feet in good time.
